it definitely adds a layer of maintenance and fine tuning but with certain platforms like the AKM you don't really have to worry about it for the first 1000 rounds, in that vid I shared the other day I think all he had to do was lube it around 900 rnds.
And 1000 rnds is more than enough for self defense, and in other applications even just the range it would a lot of fun just because you kind of have to ride the trigger and find that equilibrium, turning it almost into an art IMO

Bianary triggers are expensive, bad, unreliable triggers. It's a much better idea to get a good AR trigger like a scmidd 2 stage and get one of the selector based FRTs and have your trigger modified to work. At least then you'll have a good trigger.

All shooting requires finesse, anon. I would master the double drill before you bother with anything that simulated full auto. Bullets don't matter if you do not hit things with them.

When you can do a clean doubles drill at 50 yards, start to think about auto simulation stuff. Before then it's a much better idea to buy ammo and train more.

I get you're trying to be funny, anon, but I am being very serious here. I don't know how much you shoot but if you cannot pull the trigger with whatever as fast as you can and hit a target at whatever distance, it's a total waste of ammo and money to think about auto simulation.

Unless you're a GM or some sort of high level shooter, I am probably much more experienced and a better shooter than you. The videos I posted are from people who are better shooters than I am and 99.999% of other people. I can shoot a clean 50 yard doubles drill and can do it from every unsupported and supported position, out to farther distances in prone due to it's consistancy.

I get it's fun and all but you should get good at shooting before you think about fun gimmicks. I'd buy a 22lr pistol or conversion kit to train doubles with over any thing else other than a red dot and a high candela white light.

Realistically, with consistant training and daily dryfire, I'd say you can achieve the level of skill required for full auto simulation at about 10k rounds or so, assuming you are seriously training and shooting about once a week with maybe 100rds or so, you'll get to the point that it's worth having in about 9 months from no-skill to competent.

If you want to get good, highly recommend watching this class >>138056 # or reading one of his books and seriously putting time in. 5-30minutes a day of dryfire, if you are doing it correctly and verifying the habits you are creating are right, will make you a much better shooter than if you do not do so. The doubles drill is a great live fire diagnostic that's low round count and helps you see your bad habits over 50 rds or so.

Just make sure to be paranoid about clearing your firearm, removing the ammunition and keeping loaded mags away from you when you're going at it. It's generally best to focus on a single skill at a time per day. Like up drills, transitions, grip, mount, movement, reloads, etc and it's totally fine to call it quits after 5 minutes if you feel yourself getting worse, just pick it up again tomorrow.

It's a good idea to get yourself a timer or get an app on your phone for a stimulus to react to as well.

Yeah, it's the best class covering marksmanship fundamentals I have found and it's FREE! You can also just go and pay for a slot if he's nearby for one, like 400$ + ammo but it's gonna be the exact same information but with more personal interaction. I'd only do that if you hit a platau in performance and cannot identify a lack yourself or know how to overcome it.

What really blew me away is that I was already a decent shooter beforehand and having watched that, taken notes and kinda immersed myself into it, I have gotten to be a MUCH better shooter than I was before. Many issues I had were suddenly no longer issues cause I was just doing it wrong and overcomplicating it.
